Build a Banking Application in Under 30 Minutes with the Rize Developer Toolkit

Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of our Developer Toolkit, which allows those developing against our platform to build a prototype application from top to bottom in less than 30 minutes.

When we set out to become the best-in-class fintech infrastructure platform, we knew that meant heavily investing in the developer community. Our mission is to get clients to market faster, with less effort — and that begins with not only providing great documentation, but creating tools that enhance our builder’s experience and significantly cuts down on development time. The primary goals of our toolkit are to:

  • Enable Focus: We want you to focus on the products that set you apart from the competition. Our tools enable you to build reliable and industry compliant software with ease while keeping your primary focus on your core pieces of product. We do that by providing tools like our SDK that requires little infrastructure to get up and running.

With these goals in mind, we created a comprehensive suite of tools made up of 5 main components:

  1. Self-Serve Sandbox:

Our Self-Serve Sandbox replicates the production environment. This is a no- cost, no-risk way for developers to write code, test, simulate and troubleshoot before going live. It’s also you how gain access to the rest of the tools. Get started now.

2. Launchpad:

The Launchpad is our one-stop-shop for anything developers may need to work with the Rize platform. The Launchpad provides easy access to:

  • API Docs

Additionally, the launchpad allows you to easily track where you are in the integration process with a comprehensive checklist of what is required to move into each tier.

3. Software Development Kit (SDK):

Our SDK is a Javascript built library that acts as an interface to all of the Rize API resources and makes it easy to authenticate, onboard customers and open accounts. The SDK supports the use of asynchronous programing that better allows your team to build reliable enterprise applications.

Additionally, the SDK introduces the Rize Message Queue, a new way to handle bidirectional communications. Using the STOMP protocol, your application is now ready to listen and react to events happening inside the Rize infrastructure and create cause and effect events inside your own application. There’s a lot more to come on the Rize Message Queue, so stay tuned.

4. Command Line Interface Tool (CLI)

The Rize CLI provides an application generator that can get you started with a real backend banking app in minutes. It will set up your database authentication provider and a node.js middleware API to service your customer-facing application. Simply run the script to start the CLI and answer the questions using some of your existing configurations and the Rize Launchpad as inputs. After completion, the program will create a new application directory that is ready out-of-the-box.

5. Boilerplate App

A sample customer-facing mobile application written in React-Native that supports IOS, Android and basic Web and interfaces with the generated application you created with the Rize CLI. This UX includes a full on-boarding flow, the ability to connect external accounts, transfer funds, and order debit cards.

Our team is proud of these tools and we can’t wait to see what you build using them. That said, this is just the beginning. We are continuously expanding our developer resources, releasing new product features, and furthering our mission to make financial services simple and accessible. We’re always looking for feedback so, as always, please let us know what you think by submitting feedback to GitHub repo here.

Without further ado, get to building!
